Stuart Bailie

Stuart worked for the NME for 12 years, rising to Assistant Editor. He also wrote the authorized Thin Lizzy biography, ‘Ballad Of The Thin Man’ in 1997 and has scripted a series of BBC Radio 2 documentaries on U2, Elvis Costello, Thin Lizzy and Glen Campbell.

He was co-founder and CEO of the Oh Yeah music centre in Belfast, a resource for musicians and the music industry. His book Trouble Songs chronicles the music that soundtracked the conflict in Northern Ireland and involves over 60 interviews and conversations with the likes of Bono, Christy Moore, the Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers, Orbital, Kevin Rowland, Terri Hooley and the Miami Showband survivors.

It’s an account of how music has been a persuader, agitator and peacemaker.

Stuart will be discussing his book with Roisin Dwyer and playing some tracks mentioned within it.
