An idea borne out of conversations in a record shop, where else? A common memory of the importance of vinyl in our youth and a belief that it had become relevant again. The look of the cover, the feel of the sleeve, the smell of the record and the purity of the sound.. it was a format worthy of a revival! The Dún Laoghaire Vinyl Festival will bring together international musicians, writers and filmmakers discussing and playing vinyl records and considering their importance in our culture today.
The festival will be a collection of talks and discussions relating to all aspects of vinyl recordings from writing, recording, producing and performing as well as examining sleeve design and liner notes.
The venues are The Studio @ dlr LexIcon, The National Maritime Museum, The Lighthouse Pub and the Pavilion Theatre.
There will be a record fair on site for the three days
